WVU Login credentials are for students only. If your parent or guardian wants to view your student account, pay a bill on your behalf or view your grades, you can grant them access through the Parent/Guest Portal.

Set Up Duo Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of account security, besides your username and password. About 48 hours after you register for classes for the first time, you’ll be prompted to set up Duo when trying to log into a WVU system, like Portal. Download the free Duo Mobile app on your phone and follow the setup instructions on a computer. Don’t want to use your phone? You can purchase a Duo display token at any WVU Barnes & Noble bookstore. Please call (304) 293-7461 to check availability.

After setting up Duo, we recommend generating backup codes to have in case you lose access to your phone or Duo token. You can generate 10, single-use codes at one time. Store them in your wallet or another secure location, cross them out as you use them, and generate a new list when you’ve used all 10.

All About Your Mountaineer ID Card

Students moving into WVU residence halls in Morgantown, Keyser and Beckley can pick up their new Mountaineer ID Cards from front desk staff at check-in this August. If you haven’t yet submitted your photo, please visit idphoto.wvu.edu as soon as possible to submit a photo that meets WVU’s requirements. Be sure to complete the second step, which is to upload a legal photo ID as proof of your identity. Watch your MIX email for approvals or rejections.

Starting Monday, Aug. 10, Morgantown students not living in residence halls can pick up ID cards at the ITS Service Center in the Mountainlair, which is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

ID cards let you unlock doors, use the PRT and public transportation, and pay for residence hall laundry machines, printing services and more. You will swipe your ID card to use your meal plan, Dining Dollars and Mountie Bounty, so keep it safe.

Learn About On-Campus Printing

If you bring a personal printer, it must have a wired USB connection, and wireless capabilities must be disabled. WVU does not allow personal wireless printers to connect to campus Wi-Fi. Students are encouraged to use a web-based service called MyPrinting, and pay for their prints using Mountie Bounty.

Connect to Campus Wi-Fi

Select the WVU.Encrypted wireless network and enter your WVU Login username and password to connect your mobile devices and computer to the internet. It’s available across all campuses, including residence halls.

The WVU.Play network is for gaming consoles and smart devices such TVs, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, AppleTV and Roku. All these devices must be registered by mac address at mydevices.wvu.edu before connecting to WVU.Play.

COMPETITIVE GAMERS: Ethernet ports provide higher-quality streaming, less lag time and a more reliable connection than the wireless network for students living in most WVU residence halls in Morgantown and Keyser. Each room has a wireless access point on one wall near the ceiling, with three active network connections. These are usually labeled Cisco and are the ONLY active internet connections in the room.

All devices must be registered by mac address at mydevices.wvu.edu before connecting to WVU.Play. Devices must be directly plugged into one of the ethernet ports, without using personal switches, routers or access points. Ports labeled LAN3, LAN2 and POE-LAN1 will be available; the port labeled Pass-Thru cannot be used. None of these ports provides power.

Residence halls that CANNOT support hard-wired access include Seneca Hall, Oakland Hall, Vandalia Hall, University Place and all residence halls at WVU Beckley. WVU has no immediate plans to install ethernet ports in these buildings.

The WVU.Guest network is only for visitors. Students trying to connect will get an error.

If you prefer in-person assistance, stop by an ITS Service Center location. They also handle Mountaineer ID card replacements.
