It is a free, simple plugin for Microsoft Word (Windows, Mac) or Libre Office (All platforms). Allows you to quickly and easily insert styled citations to reference materials from your Mendeley Library. Automatically generates a bibliography for your paper using all the materials you’ve cited. Mendeley Word plugin can be copied and pasted between Word documents. If you do a refresh with the Mendeley Word plugin (which will re-sync the details of the Word citations to match those of the Mendeley group) and one or more popups appear asking if you want to keep a manual citation edit, you should select ‘Keep Manual Edit’.
To add Citations to a document:
- Place your cursor where you want to add a citation
- Select the References tab and locate the Mendeley Cite-O-Matic section (PC); or look for the Mendeley toolbar or Mendeley menu (Mac).
- Click 'Insert Citation' and search for references by author, title, or year from your Mendeley Library. References can also be added from Groups - just change the drop-down menu from My Library to one of your Groups and select the desired citation.
- After a citation has been inserted, you may change the citation style using the Style drop-down box.
Create a Bibliography
- After at least one citation has been added to your document, place your cursor where you want your bibliography, then click I'nsert Bibliography'.
- Click the Refresh option to update the bibliography as you add more citations.
- If the bibliography does not follow the citation style, you may need to edit the reference in your Mendeley Library. Click refresh to reflect any changes that were made.
