The preferred methods for connecting to Office 365 are the Outlook Web Application with a web browser and the Microsoft Outlook clients for Windows and Mac OS. These methods deliver the best level of functionality with the Office 365 services.
Process Considerations:
- UW-Shared Services IT does not provide support for accessing email on personal devices. This includes phones, personal computers, tablets, and anything else not issued by UW-Shared Services IT.

You can connect to Office 365 from any internet connected computer:
- Open your preferred browser and go to https://www.office.com/.
- Complete the login using your full UWSS or UWSA e-mail address as your username.

What email services are available at UW?
Important messages from the University are sent to your UW email address: UWNetID@uw.edu or UWNetID@u.washington.edu (where UWNetID is your actual UW NetID). You can keep your UW email address after you graduate or no longer attend UW.
UW provides two cloud-based email services
UW Exchange Online
UW Exchange Online is the University of Washington’s Microsoft Exchange service providing email, calendar, contacts, and task management. UW Exchange Online is offered as a service of UW Office 365. To forward your email to UW Exchange Online, go to the UW Email Forwarding page and forward your email to UW Office 365.
UW Gmail
UW Gmail is the University of Washington’s Google G Suite service providing email, calendar, contacts, and task management. UW Gmail is offered as a service of UW G Suite. Go to the Manage UW G Suite page to activate the service and set your UW G Suite password, then forward your email to UW G Suite.
Uw Outlook Email
Note: A login link to the UW email service you are forwarding to appears on MyUW: Home, in the top right corner, with the name Email.
Which email service should you use?
Your department or business unit may standardize on either UW Exchange Online or UW Gmail. Contact your local IT support organization before choosing a UW email service.
