Here, the community version is free, but for the professional version, you need to buy the license. I will be working on the PyCharm community version and for beginners and intermediate programmers, it is more than sufficient. Check, If you are running Pycharm's Professional Edition or Community Edition. Community Edition is free and there's no need to activate or pay for it. Professional Edition comes with a subscription and you will have to activate it after a free.
